The Chylds from Canton featured John Berecek- lead guitar ; Tim Hogan- gtr/keyboards ; Al Twiss- bass and Joe Vitale- drums. This is their first release from 1967 on the small GIANT record label. The same sides would be picked up later that year and released on the WARNER BROS. label. Vitale did some work with another Ohio native - Joe Walsh. He appears on some of Walsh's post James Gang solo LPs. "Hay Girl" appears on a few later released comp. LPs, including PEBBLES HIGHS IN THE MID-60's ..OHIO, mentioned in other posts here

The Chylds-I Want More (Lovin')
How nice it is to see info about the Chylds. I married John Berecek and we had two beautiful daughters. We did not stay together, but we share two wonderful grandsons and remain friends. I listen to their music today and can't believe my ears. I don't think I appreciated them enough back then. They really were AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Keep them alive!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
ReplyDeleteThe Chylds in Kent 40 years ago WOW those were fun times. Wonder if they would remember Debbie and Sue, Joe might.
ReplyDeleteMy step-dad is John Berecek. He is married to my mom Deborah. I have a brother who lives with them. They are happy and live with pets-cats, dog, and rabbit. I still cannot believe that they toured with The Beach Boys!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard (I Want More) Lovin' on the radio in 1967, I thought it was better than Mitch Ryder or the Rascals. So when the Chylds played the Terpz dance at the Massillon YMCA, I made sure I was there even though my friend John and I had to walk from Mayflower. We were 9th graders at Loran Andrews. they Chylds were a great band and that song / record remains one of the greats of the decade.
ReplyDeleteThis is sooo Cool! I lived on Daytona Street caty-corner from Where Nick Boldi lived at the time he produced the Chylds record, I want more lovin'. I went to school with his daughter Terry. I sure would like to talk with her about the days spent in Jackson Twp. school system. These hits were huge at the time and it's so cool that we have the internet to pull up this kind of information in just a couple of mouse clicks! Awesome times for me, for sure. c_murphy@sbcglobal.net
