CAPTAIN FOAM: CANTON

Here's a smokin' side from Captain Foam. From what I can gather, it may have been a one-man band. Need more info though... None the less, solid heavy '70s rock!!

Captain Foam-No Reason

  1. Captain Foam and the Doctor was a two piece band out of Canton from 1967 till probably around 70. Richard Bertram played all guitars and Mike O'brien was on drums. Ritchard previously had led Lord Ritchie and the Mariners, and Mike O'Brien had been in the Angry and The 18th Century. Captain Foam was probably the loudest band I ever hear live. Produced by Nick Boldi.

  2. Used to see Captain Foam at Elm's Country Club dances in Massilon back around 1970. I think I still have this 45 somewhere too. Nice to hear it again. Cool!

  3. Saw Captain Foam and the Doctor cioca i7-70 at the North Canton Y and I think at Myers Lake. This was a great time to be in high school in Stark County. The Chylds, Indian Head Nickel, Eric Smerch, Denny Jackson and from a little bit further north, Glass Harp, the Royal Chessmen, the Measles (Joe Walsh) and Cyrus Erie (Raspberries). Saw Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Soft Machine at Cleveland Music Hall March 26, 1968 and Cream at Akron Civic Theater in 69. As far as Stark County, Joe Vitale has to be our favorite son.
